Magic Trip: Ken Kesey's Search for a Kool Place
The exciting chronicle of the fabled road trip by Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters from California to New York City, on board the legendary magic bus. In 1964, the author of the “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” novel and a bunch of friends, well-versed in psychotropic substances, starts a LSD-fuelled trip towards the book’s presentation in New York. On the wheel is Neal Cassady, the American beatnik icon immortalized in the “On the Road” novel, while among the young idlers we catch a glimpse of Kerouac himself, Allen Ginsberg - even Τhe Grateful Dead. The travelers decide to record the trip in a 16mm camera, creating a documentary that’s nevertheless left incomplete. After the processing of more than 100 hours of audiovisual material, today we have the chance to enjoy on the big screen a living, priceless and unexplored part of American history.
