Sensation

Donal lives with his strict father in a desolate and graceless sheep farm, in Ireland. When the elderly man dies, the relatively shy and unsociable young man gains the freedom and the money to do what he wants. In the beginning he spends time with Kim, a middle-aged prostitute he meets through the Internet, and their relationship gradually evolves. The two of them, profiting from Kim’s professional experiences, form an ambitious professional plan and set up a company of young prostitutes. Disarmingly realistic and authentically sexy, “Sensation” avoids all the underlying cliché traps of the subject matter and remains truly enjoyable throughout. Director/ screenwriter Tom Hall rests on the inspired performances of the two leads and delivers an odd film, which easily jumps from comedic euphoria to dramatic emotion, in the same way that this happens in real life.
