The Fairy

In a hotel of the catatonic port of Le Havre, Dom is doing his night shift when he receives an unexpected visit. His pleasant evening in front of the TV is interrupted by a barefoot woman claiming to be a fairy, offering Dom the chance to make three wishes. The man asks for a scooter and infinite gasoline, but keeps his third wish for the future. When things don’t go as smoothly, Dom will have to use his third wish. Dominique Abel, Fiona Gordon and Bruno Romy, from Belgium, after “Rumba” and “Iceberg” direct and star in yet another anarchic and ornate slapstick comedy they’ve written. Straight out of the tradition created by Buster Keaton and Pierre Etaix, and influenced by the master of the sound gag, Jacques Tati, “The Fairy”, with its discreet but neat use of prose, brings the silent era closer to today, constituting a delightful cinematic experience.
