Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir
Less a documentary and more an in-depth interview to his close friend and collaborator Andrew Braunsberg, "Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir" stretches from the filmmaker’s childhood in Poland to his recent unexpected arrest in Zurich while he was on his way to receive an award from a local festival.
Polanski is an excellent storyteller and his stories can melt the heart of the most thick-skinned viewers, proving just how autobiographical the Oscarwinning "Pianist" really is. From the skin-crawling events of occupied Poland, he transports us to his Hollywood glory years, his fateful meeting and marriage to Sharon Tate and her tragic murder by members of the Manson Family. Those who don’t already know his incredible history will be shocked to hear about the ordeal he had to go through after he was accused of raping a minor and was consequently expelled from the US. Chronicling a life of high adventure, this documentary is a real gift to any film festival. Ph.V.
