Welcome to one of the biggest houses in America, made in the image of the Palace of Versailles, even if its 90.000m2 are only meant to house one family, Jackie, David and their eight children. Jackie, a former Miss Florida, is enjoying the high life provided by her multi-millionaire husband David Siegel, who also happens to be 31 years her senior. A real estate mogul from Las Vegas, David is his own man, especially when surrounded by 19 maids and a private jet. Lauren Greenfield’s camera documents the American Dream at its most luxurious until the 2008 credit crunch suddenly knocks on their gilded door. The tragic fall of the Siegel Empire is underway, and the documentary takes off through a real-life twist, the kind you only encounter in fiction. Greenfield, who just so happens to be at the right place at the right time with the right questions, delivers an incredible case study on a couple, their children, their staff and their pets as their exorbitant lifestyle slowly comes to an end.
