Keep the Lights On

Far from being your typical boy meets boy story, this sensitive and - to a certain extend - autobiographical film by Ira Sachs, traces the passionate, meteoric and highly adventurous relationship between a young director and an equally young lawyer, as it unfolds after they make the decision to stay together and fight each other’s demons, substance abuse and personal weaknesses. Featuring our very own Thimios Bakatakis (Dogtooth) on the cinematograph front, a melancholy score courtesy of Arthur Russell and a pared down yet singularly penetrative directorial approach by Ira Sachs, this affecting drama will get under your skin and stay there, a slow-burning no-bullshit study of love, devotion and the plentiful pains of holding on.
