It’s summertime in Paris and the weather is unbearably hot. Hector meets Truquette shortly before Bastille Day, the anniversary of the French Revolution. Eager to impress her, he invites her on a little trip along with her friend but their plans go awry, as the French government has decided to cut down on summer holidays by a month because of the credit crunch.

Drenched in red and blue, the Mediterranean colors of “Pierrot le Fou”, Antonin Peretjatko’s feature debut lashes out - with hilarious results - at the bank-induced credit crunch, the make-believe affluence of the French and Europe’s infatuation with capitalism.
