The Stone Roses: Made of Stone

One of the most influential bands of the "Madchester"movement, the Stone Roses weren’t just a hugely successful rock band, they defined the global music scene of the 80s and 90s. Their debut record was voted as one of the most significant British albums in history, yet the Stone Roses packed it in quite early, tangled up in legal battles and plagued by creative inertia.

Shane Meadows’ (“This is England”) brilliant documentary follows their attempt to restart their career following a 2011 reunion and delves into the history of the band, artfully tracing their difficult interpersonal relationships. The British filmmaker’s excitement is contagious and so is his affection for his subject matter, documented with the true dedication of a die-hard fan. When it’s time for their huge reunion show at the end of the film, we guarantee you’ll be one of them. Ch.L.
