Coherence

What's surprising about Byrkit's sci-fi tour de force is the fact that he draws terror from the power of suggestion rather than special effects, as well as clever little ideas and devious plots that instantly transform "Coherence" into a film you'll be carrying around in your head for a long time to come.

Remember how the best "Twilight Zone" episodes would conjure up some of the most unlikely plots, incorporating them in fantastical storylines? James Ward Byrkit manages to reproduce some of that old magic with his directorial debut.

The film takes place over one night during an astronomical anomaly caused by a comet passing close to Earth, bringing a group of 30something friends face-to-face with the possibility of a permanent timespace continuum disturbance. It's best to explore the surprises this charming little riddle has in store on your own.
