Catch me Daddy

Merging his unparalleled aesthetics with the grittiness of the story, Daniel Wolfe delivers an impressive directorial debut that seeks beauty even in the darkest moments of this agonizing manhunt, an apt criticism on the destructive cultural conflicts in modern-day Britain.

Something of a western, "Catch me Daddy" takes place in the moorelands of Northern England, across hostile expanses governed by wretchedness, abandonment and lawlessness. The film kicks off with teenage lovers Laila and Aaron hiding out from their families in a trailer in the middle of nowhere.

The reason becomes apparent when we meet the two gangs assigned the task of tracking them down: Laila's relationship with Aaron has disgraced her conservative Pakistani family and she must return and face severe punishment for order to be restored.

Merging his unparalleled aesthetics with the grittiness of the story, Daniel Wolfe delivers an impressive directorial debut that seeks beauty even in the darkest moments of this agonizing manhunt, an apt criticism on the destructive cultural conflicts in modern-day Britain. Ch.L.
