Red Rose

Within the historical context of the "Green Revolution" Sepideh Farsi recounts a love story between a politically complacent middle-aged man and a young activist, blending scripted scenes with devastating onthe- ground footage captured on cell phones during the unrest.

In June 2009, during the bloody riots that followed the election in Iran, a group of young demonstrators, desperate to escape the truncheons of the police, seek temporary refuge in a stranger's apartment. One of the girls will fall in love with the owner, a man who seems to have withdrawn into his home, refusing to take part in what is going on outside.

Within the historical context of the "Green Revolution" Sepideh Farsi recounts a love story between a politically complacent middle-aged man and a young activist, blending scripted scenes with devastating onthe- ground footage captured on cell phones during the unrest.

Provocative and politically timely, "Red Rose" tries to balance the affairs of the heart with reason through a story about privacy, public speaking and the clash of diametrically opposed views about the future of one country. P.G.
