Gemma Bovery

Martin, a middle-aged ex-Parisian hipster now living in a Norman village with his family, is unsettled by the arrival of an English couple by the name of Bovery. And it's not just because of Gemma's stunning looks, but her close resemblance to Gustave Flaubert's heroine of the same name, which happens to be his favorite novel.

It's the second time Gemma Arterton is called upon to play a Posy Simmonds comic book character (the first was Tamara Drewe), with French star Fabrice Luchini by her side. Under the sophisticated direction of Anne Fontaine, "Gemma Bovery" is brimming with amusing obsessive references, taken straight from the great writer's literary universe. N.S.
