The Wonders

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes, Alice Rohrwacher's sleeper hit won the hearts of both the critics and the audience.

12-year-old Gelsomina and her family live in the Tuscan countryside, away from prying eyes, under the strict supervision of her beekeeper father. When a reality show appears out of the blue, on the hunt for the "most traditional family" in the region, the girl is dazzled by the glamorous TV show host.

A coming-of-age story filmed against the changing of the seasons, "The Wonders" draws inspiration from François Truffaut and "The Spirit of the Beehive" to deliver one of the most disarmingly simple yet beautiful testaments on childhood and a world that's slowly fading away. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. T. Th.
