The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

40 years after it's first terror-ridden release, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" has finally been restored to perfection thanks to Tobe Hooper, who oversaw the whole process himself, and is ready to celebrate its 40th birthday with its original shock value still intact.

At 36 years old, with a meager $300.000 budget, a handful of amateur actors and a small crew was forced to work in a scorching heat wave, Tobe Hooper managed to shoot one of the most renowned and influential horror movies ever made.

Using a rugged and aggressively realistic approach that made what transpired on screen seem even more lifelike and terrifying than it already was and leaving the most gruesome scenes up to audience imagination, he saw his labor of love bring in 30 million dollars at the box office, received favorable reviews by most film critics and was temporarily banned in several countries.

40 years after it's first terror-ridden release, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" - a morbid tale of five friends who go on a trip only to meet a violent death in the hands of a paranoid family of grave-robbing cannibals - has finally been restored to perfection thanks to Tobe Hooper, who oversaw the whole process himself, and is ready to celebrate its 40th birthday with its original shock value still intact.
