An intoxicating portrait of "the rare bird of fashion". In his last film, acclaimed documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles ("Grey Gardens", "Gimme Shelter") explores the depths of Iris Apfel's eccentricity and pays tribute to her career in fashion, from her meteoric rise in the 50s up until now, at 93 years old!

A 93-year-old Iris Apfel delivers lessons in style and liberal thinking in a documentary about her life and her long career, a tribute to fashion history throughout the years. With her eccentric, flamboyant presence in upper crust New York circles and her unique sense of style, "the rare bird of fashion" as they used to call her in the 50s, has inspired countless designers and artists, like Kanye West, Jenna Lyons or Bruce Weber, who she's likely to be seen with when she doesn’t retire behind the closed doors of her Park Avenue apartment. According to her, fashion is personal, sort of like a jazz improvisation, and dressing is nothing but a game, just like life itself. Legendary filmmaker Albert Maysles captures her unique trajectory from the post-war years to middle class Brooklyn and the temples of haute couture in his last solo project before he died.
