Vertigay in modern-day Lithuania. 17-year-old Shangaile loves stunt planes, but her fear of heights keeps her chained to the ground, until a chance encounter with Auste, a girl of the same age, triggers her sexual awakening. Love – especially at great heights – conquers all, big and small. World Cinema Directing award at Sundance.

17-year-old Sangaile is obsessed with the idea of becoming a stunt plane pilot. But her fear of heights keeps her chained to the ground, and the secure perspective of the audience. She meets Auste in one of the aeronau- tical shows she loves so much, a girl who dares to address her desires, near the lakeside villa where Sangaile is spending the summer with her family. The love that develops between them will bring her one step closer to realising her dreams and everything that keeps her away from her heart’s desires. Where other directors would go straight for a dead-end romance and a conflicting path that would lead to maturity through frustration, Al- anté Kavaïté proposes companionship as a chance for emotional development. Visually stimulating and captive of the incongruous beauty of the Lithuanian countryside, where nature is liberally littered with factories, sexual awakening is the only solution, avoiding the pitfalls of never-ending innocence.
