After 16 years of self-imposed exile, a writer returns to Cuba. Reunited with his old friends, he’s forced to make a painful confession as nostalgia taints the past with passion and humor. Cantet, of " The Class" fame, turns a rooftop into a political battlefield, where personal differences are settled once and for all.

Five middle-aged friends meet for dinner on the rooftop of an apartment building, celebrating the return of an old member of the gang after 16 years of self-imposed exile in Madrid. As the night wears on, they reminisce about their youth, mourn their lost dreams and confess dangerous secrets they’ve been concealing for decades.
The new film by “The Class” director Laurent Cantet, winner of the 2008 Palme d'Or, is a veritable fountain of emotions. A tribute to times gone by, when making plans for the future could evoke a real sense of kinship, this deeply humane story is set against the hustle and bustle of every day life in Cuba, complete with a soulful soundtrack.
