Faubourg 36

Paris, 1936. The victory of the Popular Front at the national elections has generated a new wave of optimism all across France. Amidst the general upheaval, three unemployed musicians living in the working class sections of Paris decide to take over their favorite venue in order to save it. Choir director Christophe Barratier orchestrates an intricate tale of love, fame, political friction and ?what else?- music. A veritable feast both for the eyes and ears, Paris 36 is a nostalgic film about the loss of faith in political ideals and the power of art.
