20-year-old Jitze is a Dutch professional gamer who travels the world to compete in gaming tournaments with his team. During a visit to Taipei, he witnesses a deadly car crash. This event seems to stir something in his subconscious, and, all of a sudden, he starts getting psychosomatic symptoms and finds himself shut off from his team. Dispirited and alienated, he jumps into a platonic relationship with a local escort. Treading the fine line between reality and the pixilated world, young Jitze decides to get his priorities straight, as he comes to realize that energy, intensity and beauty are to be found in real life and not in front of a screen. Merging "Lost in Translation's" unassuming style with a youthful lyricism reminiscent of Gus Van Sant, David Verbeek paints the portrait of a European post-adolescent bringing communication as well as the painful lack of it- into the foreground.
