Lower prices and more free tickets for the unemployed at the Athens International Film Festival!
In spite of the hard times and the crisis, which raises the surrounding feelings of gloom and insecurity, the Athens International Film Festival chooses to see culture as a celebration of hope. Two thousand tickets to unemployed cinephiles, as well as a significant reduction in price tickets (from 4 to 6 euros) are now a feature of this year’s edition, so the Festival can offer the chance to forget everyday problems by watching inspired cinematic creations from all over the world to as many people as possible.
In spite of the hard times and the crisis, which raises the surrounding feelings of gloom and insecurity, the Athens International Film Festival chooses to see culture as a celebration of hope. So, apart from keeping for its morning screenings the reduced ticket price of 4 euros (3rd consecutive year) and its evening screenings at 6 euros (8th consecutive year), the Festival has decided on further cuts on ticket prices for the first afternoon screening – in all of our cinemas – which will be sold for 5 euros each! Furthermore, seeking to ease the financial burden on those who were most affected by the financial crisis, the Festival will issue 2,000 tickets to holders of the OAED unemployment card.
These tickets will be distributed in the following way:
- 150 free accreditations for the unemployed
These accreditations will resemble the standard press accreditations and will correspond to 5 free tickets for any of the films. Applications will be accepted at the Festival’s press centre where the applicant will have to show their – certified and effective – unemployment card and ID card, on Monday 10th, Tuesday 11th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th September. Naturally for this application an ID photo is needed. Attention please: the first 150 applicants will be the ones that will be accredited.
For those who won’t make it, though, the Festival will distribute:
- 1,250 special free invitations
The Athens International Film Festival will distribute everyday, for 10 days in total, 125 invitations, which will grant free entrance to their owners. The invitations (125 daily) will be issued from September 19th, daily, at the Festival’s press centre. Attention: the invitation will correspond to one free ticket for a screening of the next day and will be handed over from the press centre, the previous day.
The Festival’s press centre will be situated at the first floor of IANOS (Stadiou 24), weekdays, from 11:00 to 18:00 in the afternoon.
Apart from all this, the Festival will issue 10-screening and 25-screening passes and this year, for second year in a row, will also issue 20-screening passes, which offer a 50% discount on each screening.
