Filth and Wisdom

The Ukrainian-born Andy Kristen -A.K. for short- is a poet and self-fancied philosopher waiting to hit it big with his band, Gogol Bordello. In the meantime, he has to settle for working as an S&M drag queen and sharing a flat with two other no-hopers, whose expectations might be great but whose real prospects amount to zilch. Offbeat and hilarious, Madonna's directorial debut is a lighthearted elegy of the 21st century bohemians. The film was featured in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival.
