Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet
Melodic solos, lightning-fast riffs and shreds made in heaven: Jason Becker could do it all, a child prodigy just a few years shy of becoming a guitar hero. At age 15 he started Cacophony, whose neo-classical scales, dualguitar harmonies and impossible tempos made speed metal junkies think they died and went to heaven.
His talent didn’t go unnoticed, and Becker soon ended up in David Lee Roth’s new band, formerly the frontman for Van Halen. They recorded an album together but shortly before they were due to go on tour, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and was given three to five years to live. 22 years later, Becker is still alive. He might not be able to move his limbs any more, but he remains an artist to the core, composing music with his eyes via a system developed by his father. "Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet" is an ode to one man’s willpower, who only allowed humor and courage to show through the cracks of his shattered life. K.Th.
