Andrew Bird: Fever Year
Introduced to the wonderful world of music at the tender age of four, Chicago-born singer/songwriter Andrew Bird is the closest thing to a musical genius – complete with epic melodies and esoteric lyrics - the indie folk scene has seen in the past couple of decades.
Introduced to the wonderful world of music at the tender age of four, Chicago-born singer/songwriter Andrew Bird is the closest thing to a musical genius – complete with epic melodies and esoteric lyrics - the indie folk scene has seen in the past couple of decades. "Andrew Bird: Fever Year" is a documentary about the pains, the agony and the bottomless resources of energy required for a 12-month tour consisting of 165 live shows, all condensed in 80 glorious minutes. Extensive footage from his two shows at Pabst Theater in Milwaukee make for a unique concert film featuring a multi-talented musician, as he layers every instrument known to man with his trusty loop pedals, accompanied by the sound of his idiosyncratic voice, often reduced to nothing but a whisper. Xan Aranda’s featurelength debut offers an inside look on the daily life of an artist that burns with creative fever every minute of every day on a constant quest for authenticity. Is it any wonder his biggest fear is repeating himself? K.Th.
