My Blood

What would the Oedipus myth be like if it was written today? The journey of a man towards conquering consciousness and the what, the why, and the how of true love. His only partner and guiding light in this strange quest is memory.

What would the Oedipus myth be like if it was written today? The journey of a man towards conquering consciousness and the what, the why, and the how of true love. His only partner and guiding light in this strange quest is memory. Diamantis Karanastasis, in his film debut, wrote, directed, edited, produces, and stars in the screen adaptation of Marianna Kalbari’s play "New Blood" to explore the common ground between theater and cinema. Just like the majority of homegrown productions, "Blood" is banking on the risky feature format with none of the essentials – crew, money and equipment – only for the outcome to vindicate the effort. The film won the Special Jury Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and was selected to participate at the Gijon International Film Festival.
