Last Summer

This is the story that triggered newcomer Mark Thiedeman to make this tiny masterpiece, an atmospheric tribute to the untainted beauty of first love, the ephemeral nature of youth and the transition into adulthood that’s just around the corner.

In a small American town where nothing ever happens and summers are slow and suffocatingly hot, two boys try to spend as much time together as possible, as they realize that the change of season will mark the end of their romance: One will go to college, while the other will stay behind, living a life with no prospects without the man he loves by his side.

This is the story that triggered newcomer Mark Thiedeman to make this tiny masterpiece, an atmospheric tribute to the untainted beauty of first love, the ephemeral nature of youth and the transition into adulthood that’s just around the corner. A lyrical debut by a tremendous young talent, “Last Summer” holds an entire universe of sensibility and affection that’s hard to come by in this day and age. L.K.
