Alienation

Milko Lazarov’s first feature film boasts a powerful concept and a brilliant cast, led by our very own Christos Stergioglou.

A man crosses the border in an old car. He’s Greek and well over 50, heading to Bulgaria to buy a child. His name is Yorgos and he has already prepared a secret compartment in the trunk of the car in order to transport the baby without getting caught. The only problem is, the child hasn’t been born yet and Yorgos is forced to wait in an isolated cabin in the mountains, along with the pregnant mother, her deaf and dumb brother and the midwife.

Milko Lazarov’s first feature film boasts a powerful concept and a brilliant cast, led by our very own Christos Stergioglou. The Bulgarian production that premiered at the Official Selection of Venice Days, explores the relationship between impulse and limitation and the extremes one can go to when losing oneself. Ph.V.

Based on a bloody page in South Korean history that is all but forgotten, Muel O. zeroes in on the attempts of an entire village to escape certain death by hiding out in underground caves, faced with freezing temperatures, starvation and fear. Avoiding a traditional reenactment, the director chooses to highlight intimate moments on both sides of the fence.
