What Richard Did

Up until yesterday, he was the most envied and popular teenager in his school. Gorgeous, athletic and clever, Richard was a first-class role model for any boy his age. A thoughtless act in the heat of the moment will cost him a lot more than his good reputation.

Up until yesterday, he was the most envied and popular teenager in his school. Gorgeous, athletic and clever, Richard was a first-class role model for any boy his age. A thoughtless act in the heat of the moment will cost him a lot more than his good reputation.

Irish-born Lenny Abrahamson’s all-powerful drama, traces a morally and psychologically ambiguous tale of guilt in modern-day Dublin and the unbearable loneliness of being helpless and alone in a world where the dual concepts of justice and injustice aren’t always clear.

Despite his minimal acting experience, Jack Reynor is unforgettable in a demanding leading role, pushing his character to take on tragic dimensions that only add to this quietly devastating film. L.K.

Avoiding a traditional reenactment, the director chooses to highlight intimate moments on both sides of the fence.
