In Fear

Jeremy Lovering’s blood-curdling debut does not shy away from its primal nature, building mounting tension and suspense where other much more buzzed about films fail miserably.

Tom and Lucy are a young couple driving to a music festival somewhere in the countryside. They have arranged to spend the night at a hotel on the way there, but as they approach their destination the signs lead them astray, forcing them to drive around in circles in the middle of nowhere. As darkness falls and they’re running out of gas, the couple realizes they’re not alone in this road rage labyrinth.

Jeremy Lovering’s blood-curdling debut does not shy away from its primal nature, building mounting tension and suspense where other much more buzzed about films fail miserably. Keeping his actors in the dark about key plot twists, Lovering throws them into a state of panic, magnifying their growing fear of the dark, the unknown and human nature itself. Expect to be stunned by a film that packs a much stronger punch that you could possibly expect, considering it mostly takes place inside a car. N.S.

    Cheap Thrills

Katz's sadistic thriller gives the idiocy contest that is your run-of-the-mill reality show and the greediness of a society addicted to instant fame and fast cash the big screen treatment.
