The Enemy Within

The director focuses on the apologetically idealistic owner of a garden supply store, showcasing the loss of balance, dignity and humanity in contemporary Greece with quick, decisive brush strokes.

One of the most significant filmmakers in Greece, Yorgos Tsemberopoulos returns to the big screen with an eagerly-awaited new production, after the highly acclaimed “Backdoor” and the long hiatus that followed.

The director focuses on the apologetically idealistic owner of a garden supply store, showcasing the loss of balance, dignity and humanity in contemporary Greece with quick, decisive brush strokes. Manolis Mavromatakis plays the guy next door, 48-year-old family man Kostas Stasinos, who lives an ordinary life with his wife Rania, his 17-year-old son Andreas and his 14-year-old daughter Luisa. When their house is ransacked by a gang of hoodlums, they are faced with some tough decisions.

Fear is the new order of the day, shattering the family happiness and introducing violence into their everyday lives in the shape of his father’s old rifle.

    All is Lost

Can a film with a cast of one, very little dialogue and the endless blue sea as its sole location keep you nailed to your seat for one hour and 45 minutes? The answer is yes, if it's directed by J.C. Chandor.
