The Sentimentalists - work in progress
After a long hiatus from filmmaking, Nikos Triantafillidis teams up with another black sheep, Takis Moschos, who recently returned to the flock, surrounded by a cast of young hopefuls.
An upper-crust middle-aged man above any suspicion, sporting the nickname “the Teacher” (Takis Moschos), lives in a secluded seaside mansion along with his teenage daughter (Iliana Mavromati). In reality, he is a a loan shark who smuggles antiquities, trafficking stolen goods in hearsts roaming the streets of Athens.
The dirty work is carried out by two youngsters, Ermis (Dimitris Lalos) and Yiannis (Haris Frangoulis), who make a fatal mistake: Ermis falls in love with the Teacher’s daughter and Yiannis becomes obsessed with a prostitute (Eftihia Yakoumi). Branded as “Sentimentalists”, they must be eliminated immediately.
For the filmmaker, the “Sentimentalists” are nothing but “creatures from the previous century, struggling to survive in the modern world”.
