The Heart Machine

Ingeniously adopting the mechanisms of a mystery-thriller, Zachary Wigon's debut is an insightful and timely commentary on the contemporary social media frenzy.

Virginia and Cody are in love. They're in the middle of a long-distance relationship, although they met online and have never actually seen each other face-to-face. For the time being, Virginia is living in Berlin because of work and Cody is in New York, counting the days until their longed-for first encounter.

A series of clues however will make him suspect that Virginia is not only lying to him but never even left New York in the first place, which will push him into an obsessive quest for the truth.

Ingeniously adopting the mechanisms of a mystery-thriller, Zachary Wigon's debut is an insightful and timely commentary on the contemporary social media frenzy, the incapacity for real communication, the exaggerated addiction to technology and the convenient illusions each person conjures up to escape their true selves.
