An intoxicating journey into fine wine, cinema and art, set against the magical landscapes of Tuscany and Piedmont in a friendly, flavorful and charming documentary.

In previous wine doc "Mondovino", director Jonathan Nossiter had revealed the increasingly standardized wine production in France, without showing any signs of optimism about the future of this particular profession or those who consider savoring a glass of good wine a form of art.

Ten years later, he returns with a completely different approach: he focuses on the small, traditional production units that refuse to taint their product with chemicals and follow time-honored methods that sometimes clash with EU standards.

Conversations take place over relaxed, friendly dinners with sommeliers, wine producers and simple folk, intercepting them with funny movie excerpts that cleverly link intellectual nourishment and bodily sustenance, two different cultures - cinema and wine - that offer pleasure, provoke thought and struggle to maintain purity of spirit(s).
