Future is now

This year, the Athens International Film Festival has decided to devote its program to a special section on the relationship of cinema with the visual arts into three "chapters".

In the first part, Dimitris Alithinos, one of the most important Greek artists, selected eleven movies -short and medium length- for art: a documentary on Futurism, the American painter Edward Hopper, but also the greek "Variations on the same topic" - first film by Antoinette Angelidi- and the short film «Yellow Fieber» by Konstantina Kotzamani, which competed in the Locarno Film Festival.

In the second part, the Athens Biennale, the most important periodic exhibition of contemporary art in Greece, which this year is entitled «ΟΜΟΝΟΙΑ» - chose to present its film project «Occupy, Resist, Produce».

Finally, the Documenta, the largest art exhibition in the world that takes place in Kassel, Germany since 1955, decided that in 2017, for the first time, will take place not only in its birthplace, but also in Athens. In our Moving Future Tribute, it participates with a special screening about the legendary Documenta 4 in 1968.
