To the majority of contemporary musicians, Jaco Pastorius was a genius, who changed the course of modern music, redefining the sound and the significance of electric base guitar. Never-before-seen archival footage unveil the story of a true legend, produced by Metallica bassist and Pastorius fan Robert Trujillo.

The story of a music legend, told with the help of never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with his friends, relatives and collaborators, including Sting, Joni Mitchell, Carlos Santana and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Although he died at the young age of 35, Jaco Pastorious managed to change the course of modern mu- sic, redefining the sound and the significance of electric base guitar, despite having experiment with a variety of other musical instruments for years. Produced by Metallica bassist and Pastorius fan Robert Trujillo and Passion Pictures ("Looking for Sugar Man"), Stephen Kijak and Paul Marchand’s film tells the story of his adventurous life (1951- 1987), shedding light on its darker aspects and revindicating an artist who has only recently been hailed as a genius, earning a place in the rock’n’roll pantheon.
