A little about “In This Land Nobody Knew How To Cry”:

Something magical is happening on a little uncharted island in the Aegean. Two unsuspecting  visitors, a French MEP (Serge Requet-Barville) and a young economist (Margarita Panousopoulou) arrive by boat at the idyllic island of Armenaki and are greeted by the eccentric way of life and  unconventional moral values of its inhabitants. Money is outdated … no banks, no streets, no cars, no rooms to let. There, they will meet the nutty teacher (Babis Hatzidakis) as well as the buxom widow of the island (Foteini Tsakiri) and they will find themselves in the throes of love, enchanted by this land which might change people's lives forever.

In his new film, the title of which is taken from the lyrics of the song  “Itane Leei” by Akis Panou, Giorgos Panousopoulos examines a whimsical way of life set against the backdrop of the imposing landscapes of Ikaria and in  a carefree yet methodical way sets the foundations for his characters to live freely. On the isle of Armenaki where nobody knew how to cry, the characters develop, contemplating, having fun and, with an unprecedented passion, falling in love with life itself.
