24th Athens International Film Festival

New Greek cinema through 47 short films!

For the seventh consecutive year, the 24th Athens International Film Festival supports Greek directors by introducing new film-makers through the “Greek Short Stories” competition segment.

An integral part of the festival during recent years, this competition section features the most exciting and
creatively restless offerings of Greek film production and has presented more than 350 films . This year's submissions exceeded the record number of 244 , which indicates that Greek cinema is alive and kicking
but also that young Greek creators trust the Festival as a platform through which to present their work.

The selection process has been completed and 47 films have been selected to compete for the awards of
the 24th Athens International Film Festival.

Keeping with the Festival's tradition of honouring those professionals who support film-making in our
country, the jury for this competition will consist of: Elina Psykou (director) as Head of the jury, Marina Kalogirou (actress), Lambis Haralambidis (editor), Marina Konti (film sales executive), Thodoris Dimitropoulos (journalist - film critic).

The jury will be presenting the following awards:
- First Prize for Best Film
- Second Prize for Best Film
- Best Director
- Best Screenplay
- Best Actor
- Best Actress

The winner of the First Prize for Best Film will also receive 2000 Euros and the winner of the Second Prize
for Best Film will receive 1000 Euros with the kind support of the Greek Film Centre.

The full programme of this year's festival will be announced at the Press Conference which will take place
on Wednesday 12 th September 2018 at 12 pm in the function room of the Friends of Music Society of the
Athens Concert Hall.
