Performance

24/9/2015,22:00,Δαναός 1

A sadist London gangster, hunted down by his own people, takes refuge at a rock star’s apartment, during an existentialist drug binge. Mick Jagger and James Fox indulge in drugs and drag, psychedelia, sex & violence, peppered with mind games and role playing. Roeg orchestrates the ultimate hallucinogenic film of the 70s.

From the tripped-out baroque atmosphere emanating from every scene and Mick Jagger’s elaborate pre-coital rituals to its honest outlook on sex, drug abuse and violence, "Performance" stays true to its unholy reputation, first attributed to the film by conservative critics in the 70s. An almost miraculous collaboration between Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg, "Performance" captures the inevitable hangover of an entire era, through the bizarre story of a sadist London gangster who takes refuge at a rock star’s apartment, hunted down by his own people. Somewhere between carnal experimentation and hallucinogenic drugs, the two men get caught up in a game of power and alternate identities that gradually turns one into the other. This wild, daring performance pushes civil violence and rock’n’roll mythology into a tight embrace they cannot escape.
