Poppy Shakespeare

N is a familiar figure at London’s Dorothy Fish mental hospital. Having spent the past 13 years of her life in an out of treatment, N has severed all her ties with the outside world and the close-knit hospital community is the only family she knows. The comforting familiarity of hospital life is suddenly disrupted by the arrival of Poppy Shakespeare (Naomie Harris,) a new patient who insists she has no place there. Based on Clare Allan’s award-winning eponymous novel, Benjamin Ross directs a riveting psychological drama on mental illness, the marginalization of mental patients and the shortcomings of the British Health System
