However Hallam’s means of discovering the truth are no less deviant; the sexually frustrated teenager will soon find himself penniless, giving in to a growing obsession. A powerful existential thriller with strong Hitchcockean influences, Hallam Foe is by far Mackenzie’s more evocative, titillating and mature work to date. The film won the Silver Bear for Best Film Music at Berlin Film Festival.
