The Troll Hunter

According to the government, the problems up on the Norwegian mountains are not a cause for concern, since, it claims, they have only been caused by bears. A group of three students, however, don’t believe a word; they grab a video camera and travel to the area to discover the truth. There they will meet a mysterious hunter who tries to avoid them initially. They persist, however, and eventually realize firsthand that the strange man’s prey is trolls, not bears. This year’s midnight surprise with the title “The Troll Hunter” is the film that advances the “Blair Witch Project” tradition, brilliantly utilizing the sense of panic a handheld camera can create, but mainly emphasizing a humour of epic proportions and biting commentary. André Ovredal draws his inspiration from Scandinavian myths and delivers the cult mockumentary of the year, which has been featured in festivals all around the world and has initiated the unsuspecting viewers into the secrets you’ll need to know to face a troll, should you have to.
