Highly sought-after and out of circulation for years, this Oscar-winning documentary was the subject of a long court battle that eventually vindicated Clark, chronicling both the public and the private life of one of America’s most celebrated literary figures.

As the 87 year-old poet was gradually heading towards the dawn of his life and his grand course in literature, he received Shirley Clarke’s invitation to a film portrait dedicated to him. As the initial hesitation of the four times Pulitzer winner Robert Frost subsided, the director managed to honor him with a beautiful film which brought about a perfect contrast between his public persona, his private life and the secret world of his thoughts.
Awarded with an Oscar for Best Documentary and having been the cause for lengthy court fights, which restored Clarke’s name as the principal figure behind the inspiration and creation of this film, the «A Lover's Quarrel With the World» (title borrowed from a poem by Frost) gathers devoutly the pieces of a gorgeous life and creation puzzle, full of respect and love for its subject matter.
