Intentions of Murder

Faithful wife, obedient daughter-in-law and loving mother, Sadako is content with her destiny, no matter what the future might bring, like the traditional Japanese woman that she is. Until one day, she is assaulted by an unknown perpetrator in the privacy of her own home. The return of the rapist, who confesses his love for her, will mark the beginning of a bizarre relationship where initial thoughts of suicide give way to a new and improved perspective on her own life. Solidifying Imamura’s reputation as a relentless observer of human nature, “Intentions of Murder” tells the unorthodox story of a woman’s sudden awakening through brutally erotic mise-en-scène, sexually suggestive flashbacks and frenzied dream sequences.
