The rise and fall of powerful men is a common subject-matter in cinema, but Petersén’s debut zooms in on the decadent demise of a once glamorous life. Johannes Brost, a legendary party animal and Mick Jagger’s best friend, is the ideal choice to play Janne, a debauched scoundrel who simply refuses to succumb to old age. Perfectly embodying the decay that comes with a lifetime of materialism, he squirts poison in every direction until survival looks more like punishment rather than a victory. Ph.V.
