INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
THE GOLDEN ATHENA AWARD
Acclaimed artists and film professionals are selected every year as members of the Festival's International Jury. The Golden Athena Award for Best Film is bestowed upon the most technically and aesthetically accomplished film of the International Competition Section and is accompanied by a prize of 2,000 euros. The prize-statuette designed by designer Giorgos Sepetzoglou, is a courtesy sponsorship of ZOLOTAS jewelers.

The Festival's audience votes for its favourite film among the films in the International Competition Section. Sponsored by Fischer Beer.
GCCA AWARD
The members of the Greek Film Critics Union choose and award their favourite film among the films of the International Competition Section.
STRANGER THAN FICTION / IN COMPETITION
GOLDEN ATHENA AWARD for BEST DOCUMENTARY
An International Jury composed by professionals who specialize in documentaries selects the film to be awarded with the Best Documentary Golden Athena. The statuette-prize is accompanied by a prize of 2,000 euros, designed by designer Giorgos Sepetzoglou and is a courtesy sponsorship of ZOLOTAS jewelers.
GREEK SHORT STORIES / COMPETITION
A special Jury of experienced and established Greek professionals presents every year the following awards:
Golden Athena (accompanied by a € 2,000 cash prize, sponsored by the Greek Film Center)
Silver Athena (accompanied by a € 1,500 cash prize, sponsored by the Greek Film Center)
Best Director (accompanied by a € 1,500 cash prize, sponsored by the Greek Film Center)
Best Screenplay (accompanied by a € 1,000 cash prize, sponsored by the ΑNT1 Screenwriting School)
Best Performance by Male Actor
Best Performance by Female Actor
ONASSIS AWARD (accompanied by a € 5,000 cash prize, sponsored by ONASSIS CULTURE)
Α development award that is offered as a reward for a specific film of the Greek Short Stories - In Competition section, but is considered a financial support for the director’s next project (of their choice).
SCHOLARSHIP to a screenwriter, sponsored by the ANT1 Screenwriting School
GIORGOS TZIOTZIOS HONORARY AWARD
The Honorary Award is named after Giorgos Tziotzios, first Director of ΣΙΝΕΜΑ magazine and Athens International Film Festival. The Giorgos Tziotzios Honorary Award will be given in honor to selected guests of the Festival for their contribution to cinema and culture.
