INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION JURY

Guy Lodge (President)

Guy Lodge is the UK film critic for international trade bible Variety, a regular columnist for The Guardian and Observer newspapers, and co-editor of the review site Film of the Week. Born and raised in South Africa, he now lives in London.

Poka-Yio

Artist and curator, professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts and founding director of the Athens Biennale. Co-founder of the Station Alpha - Athenian Center of Modern Art. His practice includes drawing, performance, theater, movies and art direction as well as curation of big scale artistic projects designed as gesamtkunstwerk, a holistic art piece.

Anaïs Emery
Director of the GIFF since 2021. She was director of NIFFF from 2006 to 2020. In 2017, she completed a DAS in digital communication, in addition to her studies in film history and aesthetics. In 2017, she launched the FutureStoryworlds@CERN workshop. Additionally, Anaïs is part of the Foundation for Digital Creation.

Christelle Younes

Co-founded the production company Bee On Set Productions in 2016. The highlight of her career was in 2021 when the feature film ‘Death of a Virgin and the Sin of Not Living’, were officially in competition at the Panorama section in Berlinale and collected 7 awards worldwide.

Siamak Etemadi

Born in Tehran, director and producer Siamak Etemadi has been living and working in Athens since 1995. His first feature film 'Pari' had its world premiere at the Berlinale in 2020 and was nominated for 8 Iris Awards of the Hellenic Film Academy.

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY JURY

Karin Rywkind Segal (President of the Jury)

Karin Rywkind Segal is the Artistic Director of Docaviv FF. She has participated as a jury member at film festivals and competitions around the world and is a member of the European Film Academy. 

Stefan Candea

Coordinator of the editorial and technological projects of European Investigative Collaborations, a network by agreement between European media organizations he has co-founded. His journalistic interest stays focused on abuses of power across borders and currently he explores interdisciplinary research and cross-platform publication approaches.

Apostolia Papaioannou

She has studied Cinema and Psychology. She has worked in Film and TV - both public and private - in many different roles, as a director, producer, editor, advisor and script editor, in short and feature films, creative documentaries, documentary series and fiction series. 

Sofia Papaioannou

She is a journalist and presenter of Greek Public Television’s broadcast ‘365 Days’. Founder of www.istorima.org. She studied English Literature at the University of Athens, History at Deree College, and she obtained her MA in TV Journalism from NYU. Author of the book ‘Hidden in the Aegean: A True Story’.

Jan Rofekamp

Jan Rofekamp founded Films Transit in 1982 and has been involved with production and sales of quality documentaries ever since. Today, more as a consultant and a producer, he participates at many important documentary events and festivals consulting hundreds of producers and filmmakers.

GREEK SHORT STORIES IN COMPETITION JURY

Angelos Frantzis (President of the Jury)

Director and screenwriter. He was born in Athens and studied cinema at INSAS in Brussels. His movies (‘Polaroid’, ‘To Oneiro Tou Skylou’, ‘In the Woods’, ‘Symptom’, ‘Still River’, ‘Eftihia’) have been screened and awarded in various festivals. He has been involved in film critique for many years, as well as mixed media techniques.

Orfeas Avgoustidis

He studied at the drama school of Nelly Karra and the directing course of New York College. He has been a member of the Hellenic Film Academy since 2009. Since 2005 he has been working as an actor in theater, tv and cinema, having worked with important actors and directors.

Poly Lykourgou

She studied Sociology to save the world. When told that stuff like that only happens in the movies, she studied cinema. Since 1998 she has been a film critic. In 2011, together with 3 friends, she had her first baby: flix.gr. After all, she never did save the world, but the film world surely did save her.

Marilena Karamolegkou

She studied Communications, Media and Culture. Started as a journalist, then a copywriter for media and advertising agencies. In 2015 she took charge of the marketing department of a university publishing house. In 2017 she co-founded, along with Thanos Samartzis the publishing house DOMA that she still co-runs to this day.

Vicky Micha

She has worked as a producer in films that have been screened at some of the most important festivals and has collaborated as an advisor with more than 120 companies internationally. She is a member of the European Film Academy and the board of directors of the Greek Academy. She represented Greece as a Producer on the Move in Cannes in 2023.
