A kid gets mixed up with the mafia in modern-day Bangkok, trying to get his gay brother out of compulsory military service. Class issues, love and loss in a devastating story that highlights the end of innocence. The LGBT movie of the year that made waves at the last Berlinale.

Bangkok. After the death of his parents, 11-year-old Oat, his little sister and his older brother move in with his aunt. While the older brother works at a bar for male escorts and struggles to keep his relationship with a spoilt rich boy alive, the younger brother steels money in an effort to get him out of the country’s compulsory military service and gets mixed up with the local mafia. In his feature debut, director Josh Kim chronicles the hardships of a parentless family, faced with an oppressive present and an unknown future. A different coming-of-age story, set against the backdrop of metropolitan Thailand, a city of social injustice and class extremes, this tough, low-key film made waves at the last Berlinale.
