Saint Clara

Clara has the ability to predict the future, including quiz questions, which she generously shares with her schoolmates out of sheer selflessness. But what happens when Clara falls in love?

In a multinational Israeli High School, 13-year old Clara is suspected of a school paper cheating scandal. But the truth is a lot more complex than that. Clara has the ability to predict the future, including quiz questions, which she generously shares with her schoolmates out of sheer selflessness. But what happens when Clara falls in love?

Co-directing his narrative feature debut with Ori Sivan, Folman adapts a novel by the great Czech- Austrian novelist Pavel Kohout into a rare portrait of teenage angst and the pursuit of love with a mix of affection and surrealism that’s reminiscent of François Truffaut, John Hughes, David Lynch and Luis Bunuel all at once.

One of the most popular Israeli films of the 90s, “Sant Clara” swept national awards after screening at the Berlinale, where it took home the audience prize. K.S.
