Fort Tilden
"It's not about the destination, it's about the journey". This heavily abused cliché that's starting to sound like an aphorism, resonates throughout the film that won the SXSW Grand Jury Award.

"Fort Tilden" is the journey of two neurotic and spoilt leading ladies, Allie and Harper, riddled with adversity as they struggle to reach their titular destination. These two borderline dislikeable Lena Dunham-wannabes set out from Williamsburg, aka Hipsterville Central, for every pretentious New Yorker's summer getaway, Fort Tilden beach.
The rules are simple: no food (they have to look as thin as possible for the sake of the studs who invited them there the night before), no sunscreen (they need to get a tan), no needless expenses. Do we really need to tell you that their plans go to hell in this anthem to normcore, the new 20something craze that's taken the US by storm? A self-referential and feisty debut, "Fort Tilden" puts the present under close scrutiny. Ph.V.
