For a large portion of Americans ?and especially for the religious right- homosexuality is considered an abomination and is met with hatred, downright rejection and contempt. Why? Because the Bible tells them so ? or so they conclude based on a biased and outdated interpretation of the Scriptures. Focusing on the Holy American Family, Daniel Karlslake proceeds to painstakingly overturn preconceived notions and conventional wisdom (from the literal interpretation of the Bible to the denial that homosexuality is determined by genetic factors) proving that hatred and intolerance are the greatest abominations of all. A powerful polemic against ignorance and fear, For the Bible Tells Me So was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Festival.
