Manufacturing Dissent: Uncovering Michael Moore

Abrasive, iconoclastic and compelling, Michael Moore has made a name for himself as the man who will expose any lie PR machines churn out. The problem is that the notorious big bosses’ gadfly seems to have engaged in his own fair share of spin during his career ? or at least this is what directors Debbie Melnyk and Rick Caine discovered during their two-year unsuccessful pursuit of Michael Moore for an interview. Starting off with Moore’s false statements on his origin, Manufacturing Dissent proceeds to meticulously examine and knock down popular items in the Michael Moore mythology, such as his supposed lay-off from the leftist magazine Mother Jones and his failure to meet with General Motors boss (documented in Roger and Me) rounding it all up in a thoroughly amusing deconstruction of the political documentary enfant terrible with plenty of Moore-style tricks up its sleeve!
